My friend has just joined a club for wine lovers. He was invited to a wine dinner which was specifically made for him. He can bring 6 guests to the dinner and I was one of them. The dinner was held in Wanchai.
I thought that was a rather "usual" type wine dinner, like those having a number of different tables and the host was wandering around different tables to chat with the guest, etc. However, this one was really special and individually made.
There was only 1 table with 12 seats, in a private room of a restaurant. My friends and i, the customer service officer for my friend's account and his supervisor, the chairman of the club, the chateau owner and its wine-maker of the chateau of the wine which we were going to taste, that made up the 12 people.
Each of us have a name plate and a bouchure.
These 3 people are the chairman of the club, the owner of Ch. La Conseillante and their wine maker (estate manager).
There was a brief description of the Chateau and the club at the last few pages of the bouchure.
The welcome drink was 1999 Salon. As the chateau only produces red bordeaux, they picked a white burgundy for the dinner.
Food. A tailor made menu and the food was individually served.
More food. ;D
Wine, we tasted the 2010, 2006, 2005, 2000 and 1990. The bottles were carefully served.
The estate manager gave us a little surprise. That was a half bottle of 2015 sample. This sample was just bottled 2 days before we tasted, an oversea En-primeur tasting.
