My first attempt to take fireworks pictures was in Macau in the summer of 2010.

This year, we booked a room in the Intercontinental Hotel right at the harbour side overlooking the firework barges. (The 3 bigger vessels in the first picture.) You can see people already "taking up positions" at the time of this picture at around 4pm. The fireworks starts at 8pm.

The room was nice. Even the bath tub has window overlooking the harbour.
It's a good place to see the firework. But not a good place to take pictures, because of the window glass caused some reflections.

Some random pictures of the hotel and the room.
We also booked the buffet at this restaurant on the ground floor. After we made the booking, the restaurant staff called and told me that we could view the fireworks right outside the restaurant. So for those who does not mind not having a room to rest, booking the dinner at the restaurant could be good enough for securing good viewing position.

Two more pictures before the fireworks photos.

Nice pics. I heard that the wind had distorted the shape of the fireworks but it looks ok from the pics.
I think this best spot I have ever seen the CNY fireworks was Eagle Centre at Wanchai.

The laser beams were bonus. I was using F8 to F11, and thought that the laser beams would be hard to capture. ;D
