i plan to substitute my laptop into macbook as well....
all my friends said once you use it (no matter computer, iphone or ipod) you will get hook into it....
Depends...
I had my first Power Mac 10 years ago. It was very good and nice for photo processing, edit video, making DVD, etc... The screen layout is generally very nice. The machine is still sitting in my office but the harddisk is gone. I also have a 1st generation iMac for my office use in 2000. It's still working and mainly used for testing and playing MP3 in the office.
A mac is not entirely trouble free. And for me the biggest problem was lack of games. So when I need more on-screen space for my work about 4 years ago, the Mac is out, and 3 large (by the standard at the time) screens all hooked up to PCs.
The reasons I am getting a Mac now are:
- security, Windows and IE are extensively targetted, so I feel a bit safer with a Mac
- photo processing, mainly to use Aperture
- my kids are 'forced' to use Mac due to school policy, so may as well had one at home too
My kid has a white Macbook for two years, and it's very heavy. We get her a new Macbook Air with SSD which is much lighter, but I heard that it overheat easily. Q is using a Macbook Pro and he seem to be very happy with it.
I am somewhat immuted to iPod and iPhone. We have 4 iPods at home (2 shuffle + nano + touch, all free of charge) and only the nano is somewhat used.
