The Giving Pledge
hangchoi:
By the time you read this post, you may be aware of what "The Giving Pledge" is. I am not saying that I am up to put my name on this list, tho I wish to, but what they are doing is quite phenomenal.
Giving your estate to aid people is a really good move but as the old saying goes, "Teaching them to fish is much better than giving them a fish."
BTW, I read the letter of Mr. Buffett and there is one paragraph that I agree most:
"Some material things make my life more enjoyable; many, however, would not. I like having an expensive private plane, but owning a half-dozen homes would be a burden. Too often, a vast collection of possessions ends up possessing its owner. The asset I most value, aside from health, is interesting, diverse, and long-standing friends."
wongyan:
Hang, you can share your half-dozen houses with your long-lasting friends like the few ones played golf with you this Monday.
hangchoi:
That's home....not house.......Home includes more than a material place....I am sure you are quite familiar with the meaning of "second home" ;D
wongyan:
thanks for the clarification. By saying this statement, Warren Buffett must have experience before,
"owning a half-dozen homes would be a burden" implies? second wife, third lover, fourth girlfriend ...
Still, if Hang cannot share the "houses" , you can share your experience on the "homes" with friends. Haha.
chin:
What's that?
